Creating color schemes that work for your brand can be tough if you’re not a designer. It’s even more challenging if you want to come up with a slightly different look for an annual event or marketing campaign that complements your logo and still feels like your brand. Depending on the use, it might be easier to hire a designer and work with them to make something truly dazzling. But, if you’re trying to save money (I hear you!) or if it’s for something small like a new Facebook cover photo, here are a few ways you can find the right color scheme without pulling your hair out.
- Use a color palette generator like Coolors. Start the generator. Click on the hex code (ex. #E3B505) and change them to your logo color. Then hit the lock icon. Now all you have to do is hit the space bar until you find a color scheme that works for you!
- Search Pinterest for ideas. My husband likes bright colors; I like neutral. So when it came to creating a color scheme for our home that we both liked, I went to Pinterest for help. Simply search for one color and add “color scheme,” then search. My search for “orange color scheme” came up with a few great suggestions that would work for the both of us.
- Try the Canva color palette tool. This one is great for two reasons. First, you can upload an image and it’ll suggest a color scheme that works for that pic. Second, I use (and highly recommend) Canva for all those times when you need to create a graphic yourself. They make it really easy to create beautiful graphics when you’re not a designer.
